Dr. Price has been serving Summerville's ophthalmic needs since 1974, when Dr. Price became the first full-time medical specialist in Summerville and Dorchester County. We are conveniently located in downtown Summerville, and the office is staffed by very knowledgeable and friendly personnel. Two of the staff are natives of Summerville, one having been with the practice since the day we opened. We are a General Ophthalmology practice dedicated to the provision of medical and surgical eyecare for the entire family, as well as routine and emergency eyecare.

Dr. Price is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Ophthalmologists (Eye MD's) are medical doctors who have specialized in the medical & surgical treatment of the eye. Post graduate training in Ophthalmology is amongst the most demanding in medicine, and the American Board of Ophthalmology is the oldest certification board in American medicine.

Dr. Price performs comprehensive examinations for the detection and ongoing care of Glaucoma, Diabetes & related Diabetic eye problems, Macular Degeneration and Cataracts, as well as a number of other less frequent eye conditions. Everyday we see several patients with emergency conditions involving their eyes.

Surgical procedures are performed at the Trident Eye Surgery Center located on the campus of Trident Medical Center. The Trident Eye Surgery Center is particularly well suited for the care of our patients. The facility, equipment, and personnel meet the highest standards for care and professionalism.

Many patients rely on us to perform their routine eye examinations. They are aware that an MD mind and experience in evaluating their eyes is very important in possibly detecting a medical problem at an early stage, and making an appropriate referral to another MD specialist.

Dr. Price is very pleased with the extensive experience we have had over almost three decades in successfully treating a great many of our patients with contact lenses. We provide fittings for conventional soft lenses, frequent replacement soft lenses, disposable soft lenses, as well as gas permeable rigid & PMMA lenses. We take special pride in our ability to satisfy the needs of patients with astigmatism and presbyopia (the need for bifocals).

Our convenient in house optical shop has one of the area's largest selections of eyewear, ranging from high quality modestly priced economy frames to a large selection of some of the highest quality designer frames available anywhere.
